So, since I don't really like making someone sit still and wait for me to finish drawing them, and I'm uncomfortable drawing a stranger on the train (in the unique way only a person raised in the south can be), usually I wind up drawing either myself, or people at mass, because they aren't paying any attention to me.

Two recent photos that I like at the moment.  I guess I'm spending time figuring out what the images I make have in common, because I don't feel like I have a real subject matter.  Or, rather that my subject matter isn't any one visible phenomenon, but a sort of circumstance where several interests suddenly come together and I see it in a certain hyper-real, or living sort of way.  It's easiest in photography, because I use old twin lens and slr cameras that reverse the image in the viewfinder, so it's like holding a drawing up to a mirror.. you can see it clearly for a moment before your mind adjusts.

I'm starting out the new year by trying some new things.  Chris does beautiful costume sketches in colored pencil and watercolor, so I'm trying to figure out how they work.

I'm starting the new year by trying to draw and paint with some mediums I haven't used before.  Chris does lovely costume sketches in colored pencil and watercolor, and I decided to try it out as well.
